Saw this flying fowl out the family room window this a.m.
Took 12 photos, (of which I can only use 4)
but from the distance taken, they didn't turn out clear.
Anyone have an idea what this is?

I think what you photographed there is a "Ring-tailed Hawk" also called a "Red-tailed Hawk." I would have responded to the blog but I haven't used it in so long I forgot the sign-in procedure. I have an excuse, I'm old! Anyhow, here are some pictures of the hawk from Google Images:
