I happened to be visiting a certain unnamed store the other day, and chose to purchase a energy efficient spotlight, to be used on the spots above the garage.
Due to the much larger base, the fluorescent light was unable to fit in the fixture. Wouldn't even start to thread.
When I returned the light, I spoke to a man working the lighting section, who advised me of a fact I was totally unaware, and I wish to advise each of you, in case you are as uninformed as I. (incidentally, your Mom knew all about this)
Effective Jan 1, 2012, there will be NO more incandescent bulbs available for sale in the U.S.A.
WOW!! I can't believe our government has made THAT decision for us?? I'll need to replace four outside spotlights, because they feel I'm non compliant, and less "green" than they wish for me to be??
