Job Update

I thought I would take the time to make a post, rather then have to call everyone and discuss it individually!

For those that dont know, the plastics place in hartville laid off all of their temps on Monday of this week. Tuesday and Wednesday were spent fretting about a job, as the job market in northeast ohio is not excatly booming at this moment.

Then around 1:30 I get a call from someone who works for the staffing service where I got the plastics job from. He said he saw that I was put on avaiable status and had an opening at Diebold and would I like to come down Thursday to check it out. And so, without any other real prospects I said yes, I would infact like to go down and see what he has there.

Thursday morning I leave and get down there by about 7:15, supposed to be there around 7:45. I left early because I didnt want to get lost with it being the first time down there and all, and I DID get lost but it was an easy fix. Anyhow.

He takes me around the plant, (its their repair center on Massilion road) and shows me what I would be doing. I like it, so I tell him I would like to take it. Well, can you start he asks? I say, mind as well start today since I am down here already! So then I have to take about 2 hrs of tests in their associate deveolpment lab. They were mostly OHSA requirments that I had to do before I could go on the floor. Worked all day Thursday, and then Friday.

It's pretty decent, other then being hot during the day because there arent too many fans around. We get one truck a day (used to be from ups, but we are switching to fedex) and first the four of us (the guys who work the recieving docks) has to unload all the boxes from the truck.

Then they get sorted onto a sorting table, where we spend rest of the day cutting the boxes open and sorting through the parts, and sending them to the various repair departments that they need to goto. I like it, and everyone seems to be willing to work with a new guy to train.

I will also be getting my tow motors license this week from Diebold as it is as requirment to work the dock, should I ever be alone and need it.

The place is a stones throw from the canton airport! They also provide us gatorade everyday which is nice because of the heat. There is also a cafeteria upstairs where they have lunch and breakfast served, but I have yet to use it.

Anyways, I thought I would give everyone and update... hope all is well.

Justin
